The Evolution of Pajamas

Footed pajamas, like other types of clothing, have been evolving with the changing times. Once a novelty item for children and lighthearted individuals. This comfy sleepwear now comes in a variety of styles for all genders and ages. Footed pajamas for adults were started as a winter fashion more than a century ago in 1912. The first were created by an American clothing company. They were made of fleece and footed. These pajamas were firmly (or not so firmly) in the realm of novelty at the time, and mainly worn by youngsters and those with more humorous characters.

In the 1950s, people started to notice the convenience of having feet already in their pajamas and began wearing them for leisure. Companies then began manufacturing pajamas with feet for women in the 1960s. The trend continued into the 1970s. During this time, popular patterns included colorful plaids and novelty designs.
